Smoke and Steel: Where BBQ Meets Exceptional Flavor in Bangor, ME

One of the very few reasons I’d drive 17 hours back to Maine is this place right here it was so amazingly good. The meat was perfectly cooked falling off the bone the brisket was on another level and without a doubt the BEST tasting Mac and cheese I had in 2 weeks while in Maine. Thank you smoke & steel for an amazing meal.

Stopped in for local bbq. HOLY COW this place is amazing. Great smoke smell, half price appetizers weekdays 3-5pm and a great menu. Some of the best brisket I have ever eaten right here. If your craving outstanding bbq, do yourself a favor and stop here.

The staff was very welcoming and the food was delicious! We went too late to throw axes but plan on doing so in October when we're back for our next conference.

Very bland meats, however all of them were perfectly cooked (very tender)! You have complimentary chips when you are seated, but ours were stale. I loved that they give you 5 different BBQ sauces to try with your meats, but that shouldn't justify the lack of flavours on the meats. We really liked the tater tots and their homemade coleslaw.

I’m pretty hard to please when it comes to customer service. Most places are acceptable and get the job done and I don’t complain. But when the service is superior I talk to the manager and post reviews. When the manager came out to chat with me I was a bit surprised to see it was the same man I saw refilling drinks, running food to tables (including ours), and clearing dirty plates from our table. The staff were incredible (very good hospitality), the food was fresh and well cooked, the atmosphere was very inviting, welcoming, and clean! Our server was buzzing around and didn’t stop the whole time we were there. I honestly could go on and on. We threw some axes as well. Such a great time! We had a party of 9 and they were so accommodating and easy to work with! We will be back for sure. Thank you for the superior experience!

Smoke & Steel Bangor, Maine If in the Bangor area, definitely check this place out. I enjoyed everything we had. They also have axe throwing. The place was nice and clean inside. Everything looked pretty new. You do get some chips to start, while you look at the menu. Only downfall would be if you were looking for a spot with free wifi. We started off with the Hush Puppies. It was listed as a new item, but the waitress stated they did offer them before. Hush Puppies - cheddar cheese. Diced pickled jalapeños, applewood smoked bacon, Served with Alabama white sauce These were amazing! I could have eaten them all and the white sauce . We also went withthe Knotty Pretzel (we seen that we there for half price appetizers!) The pretzel was large and comes with a queso dip, pickle chips (not deep fried, just pickles) and a choice of pulled pork or chopped brisket. We got the pulled pork. The pulled pork was good, we tried each of the sauces that came on the table (4 types, Memphis, Texas, Kansas city and Carolina). The pretzel and queso dip also really good. We did end up taking most of this to go. For a main, we shared the Saddle Up Burger. Double smash patties, applewood smoked bacon, pulled pork, caramelized onions, American cheese, Texas BBQ sauce, Lettuce and tomato. This was amazing. Best smash patty burger I've had and definitely up there in top burgers.

First time eating at Smoke and Steel was an incredible experience for my wife and I on our Valentine date night. The atmosphere, decor and layout is amazing. The menu unfortunately was limited by the business of the holiday but even with a limited selection we were pleasantly satisfied with our selections. The gaming experience looked very exciting and entertaining but being a busy holiday we didn’t have the opportunity to play so next visit we will certainly try to get a spot for a shot. My wife and I were happy with the servers being so attentive and friendly as well as seeing other guests having such a great time. Smoke and Steel is a must visit for any couples, friends and family to gather together and share memories.

TLDR @ BOTTOM. We went here on a Saturday afternoon for a kids 15th birthday, it was sooo fun we extended the axe throwing time by a full hour, the food was good and the portions were pretty big compared to a lot of other places. The gentleman there worked with us when we decided to add two more people to the party he adjusted the Time slightly which was much appreciated and added to the good experience. Everyone there were friendly and laid back. Overall we will be going there again. TLDR Very fun,good food and portions,laid back friendly crew,fair prices.
